Overdue Notice and Phonecall Procedures

Phone Tree

The Library uses a computer system we call a “phone tree” that calls patrons with an automated message regarding their overdue items.

General Circulation Items

The phone tree system calls the day after the due date. It calls one time for items between zero and four days late. It calls the patron a second time between 5 to 8 days late. No further calls are made.

Reserve Items

One of the Library Technicians will run a daily report on overdue reserve items. If an item is at least two hours overdue and many patrons have been requesting the item, the technician will call the patron who has it. In addition to telecourse videos, there are some instructor reserve items that can be taken out of the library. Overdue reserve items are marked lost by Voyager after five days. If a patron keeps a reserve item past five or more days, a financial hold will be placed on his/her record. The student then cannot register or receive official transcripts or grade reports. (The procedure for this will be covered in detail in the “Financial Holds” section of this manual.)

Reserve Items

Reserve items are marked lost by the system after being late for 5 days.

NOTE:
