Long Overdue Items
If a book is overdue more than two years, it is marked as long overdue. Information about the book is hidden from the OPAC and is in the note field of the item record.
If a patron returns a long overdue book, after it has been discharged from their record, it needs to go downstairs to Carol Cooper in Technical Services so that she can update the item record. A patron returning a long overdue book will only need to pay the overdue fines, NOT the item replacement or processing fees.
In the picture below, the arrow is pointing to the what would normally be the title of the item. However, here you can see that the book is marked as long overdue. The title, call number, and author will be found in the item record note. The second red arrow is pointing to that.
