Bookdrops Overview

There are four bookdrops:

  • One metal dropbox right at the north entrance (Colorado)
  • Two at the south entrance (one on each side of the south doors)
  • One metal dropbox that has both audiovisual AND book slots (just West of Bonnie at the student drop-off)

Books are removed from the boxes twice a day Monday through Thursday (once in the morning and again in the afternoon) and once on Friday and Saturday.

The bookdrops at the south entrance require the staff key to open them.

The metal dropbox directly in front of the library has a combination. The combination and how to change it are in the physical manual. The combined materials dropbox requires keys. For further information on these keys, please see the physical manual.

Take a booktruck with you to do the bookdrops. Once you get the books from the bookdrop, bring them back to the desk for discharging and sensitizing. Be sure to backdate Voyager before discharging the books. (See the section on backdating in Voyager earlier in this manual.) While you are discharging the books, be sure to look out for any items that may be on hold or have a message that pops up upon scanning the barcode.

After you discharge and sensitize the books, leave them on a booktruck. When the bookstruck is full, discharge all of the items (just to double-check) and take them to the sorting shelves.
